I have a Vaillant ecotec pro 30 combi boiler that keeps cutting out with an F22 fault. As advised I keep topping up the boiler so the pressure is 1.2 bar then it fires up again and works ok. This was working fine and it was only cutting off every week or so. For the last 5 days the boiler has needed topping up before we switch it on in the morning and then it has worked normally all day. Yesterday it cut off and needed topping up twice and today 5 times. Always with the same F22 fault. We have the heating set to 20 degrees from usually 7am to usually 9.30pm. We manually switch the boiler on in the morning and off again at night. An engineer serviced the boiler only 5 weeks ago.
The system is losing water somewhere, the loss is now accelerating.
and the boiler is losing pressure and cutting off.
It seems like the expansion vessel has failed and the pressure relief valve (PRV) is now leaking. No rads in the house are leaking and no obvious other faults. The boiler and rads are 6 years old. We have not turned it on today and won’t be doing as I don’t want to cause any further damage to the boiler internal parts.
