We want a fully ducted heating, cooling and hot water system for our new home. It's a 3 bed, end of terrace loft conversion up, please do not contact us until after 21 October because of planning.

Design the installation for air conditioning in the property, please considerations as follows:

Each room will need an indoor air conditioning unit that matches its size and cooling
requirements. Cooling capacity is typically measured in BTU (British Thermal Units), and
the correct BTU rating for each room depends on room size, insulation, and heat-generating
appliances.
2. Selection of Indoor Units
 Reception Room (largest spaces): Require larger-capacity indoor units (likely
18,000–24,000 BTU).
 Kitchen and Bedroom 1: Medium-capacity units (9,000–12,000 BTU).
 Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3 (smallest space): Smaller capacity unit (6,000–9,000
BTU).
3. Outdoor Unit Configuration
 Depending on the total load, you can opt for either one large multi-split outdoor
unit or two smaller units:
o Single Outdoor Unit: Can be a multi-split system capable of handling all five
indoor units. This is space-efficient and simplifies the setup.
o Two Outdoor Units: Beneficial if the units are placed at different ends of the
property, potentially improving efficiency.
4. Trunking and Installation Plan
 The three indoor units (likely in the reception room and two bedrooms closest to the
loft access) should have their piping routed through the loft. This minimizes visible
trunking within the property.
 The other two units (in the kitchen and the furthest bedroom) can be connected
directly via external trunking to the outdoor unit(s).
5. Placement and Efficiency Considerations
 Indoor Units: Install each indoor unit high on a wall where air can circulate freely.
Avoid placing units directly above beds or seating areas to prevent cold drafts.
 Outdoor Unit(s): Install in a shaded area to maximize efficiency and minimize
exposure to the elements. Place them on a stable platform or wall brackets to ensure
proper airflow.
 Loft Trunking: Ensure the trunking through the loft is insulated properly to avoid
condensation issues.
6. Plan for Future Extensions
 Planning to extend the outer building area wall, consider future-proofing the system.
Make provisions for potential reconfiguration of units if the layout changes.
 Ensure that the chosen units are compatible with potential expansion, such as
additional indoor units or a larger capacity outdoor unit.
7. Electrical and Power Supply
 Current electrical supply will handle the added load to accommodate the air
conditioning units.
